LIFE RESTART VILLAGES
PATHWAYS TO EVALUATION
A village may enter the evaluation process either through independent identification and field research conducted by Life Restart, or through a formal request submitted by a representative of the local community or the municipal authority.
In all cases, a unified evaluation framework and common standards are applied, regardless of how the process is initiated.
Inclusion is not automatic. It requires documented data collection, structured assessment, and a substantive review of the village’s characteristics and conditions.
INDICATIVE EVALUATION CRITERIA
- Respect for the carrying capacity of the area (carrying capacity -> see Glossary)
- Absence of mass tourism conditions
- Active participation and consent of the local community
- Availability of basic infrastructure and safe access and transportation
- Direct and meaningful connection of the settlement with the natural landscape
- Preservation of cultural and environmental identity
Fulfilment of optional criteria does not alter the Life Restart Label, which remains unified and consistent in form and structure.
EVALUATION OUTCOME
In the case of a positive evaluation, the Life Restart Label is awarded and the village is included in the network of certified villages.
DURATION, RENEWAL AND RE-EVALUATION
- on-site inspection in the village,
- digital submission of documented information or structured questionnaire,
- submission of a formal declaration by the institutional representative of the local community, based on a predefined text provided by Life Restart.
The method of re-evaluation is selected on a case-by-case basis, depending on the nature and extent of any changes that may have occurred.
