NATURE IS NOT ONLY A PLACE FOR EXPERIENCE
IT IS ALSO A FIELD OF KNOWLEDGE

Life Restart - Academic Network

Academic Network

Partnerships with universities, research centers, and academic institutions that study the relationship between people, nature, and social resilience, using nature as a field for research, education, and social development.

The Life Restart Academic Network represents the scientific dimension of Life Restart and develops through collaborations with universities, research institutions, and independent researchers.

The aim of the network is to develop scientific knowledge around the relationship between humans and the natural environment, as well as to study the impact that nature-based experiences can have on health, education, social cohesion, and the sustainable development of local communities.

Life Restart activities create a unique field of application for scientific research, combining experiential activities in nature with real social and educational conditions.

Through these activities, Life Restart operates as an open field of research and observation, where universities and researchers can study the relationship between people, nature, and society through real experiences in natural environments.

Field of Collaboration

Collaborations within the Life Restart Academic Network may include:

  • research programs
  • university studies and thesis projects
  • scientific publications
  • field-based educational programs
  • data collection and analysis from nature-based activities
  • development of methodologies for nature-based educatio
Life Restart provides a dynamic environment of activities that can be used as a field of study for universities and researchers, allowing the observation and documentation of real experiences in nature and their effects on:

  • individuals
  • families
  • groups of people within their working environments
  • local communities
Particular interest may arise from studying the effects of nature experiences on professional groups operating in demanding work environments, where contact with nature may contribute to improved mental well-being, concentration, creativity, and collaboration.

Research Areas

Collaboration with the academic community aims to develop research across a wide range of scientific fields. Research initiatives that may be developed within the Academic Network may include, among others:
  • Health and well-being
  • Education and learning
  • Tourism and sustainable development
  • Economy and local development
  • Society and human relationships
  • Environment and ecological awareness
Through this interdisciplinary approach, Life Restart seeks to become an open platform for collaboration between scientists, researchers, and universities studying the relationship between people, nature, and society.

Scientific Foundation

The development of Life Restart is based on both international scientific literature and contemporary studies examining the relationship between humans and the natural environment.
For example, the research study “Environment and Mental Health” (Democritus University of Thrace, 2017) investigated the impact of contact with the natural environment on human mental well-being, confirming that the relationship with nature is an important factor in human psychological health and well-being.
Within this context, Life Restart activities can function as an open field for applied research, offering universities and researchers the opportunity to study the effects of nature-based experiences through real activities and social conditions.

THE LIFE RESTART LIVING LAB

Life Restart activities take place in natural environments and within local communities participating in the network, creating a dynamic field of experience, observation, and study.

Within this framework, the areas and communities involved in the network can function as Life Restart Living Labs — open environments where the relationship between people, nature, and society can be explored through real activities and experiences.

These areas are not selected randomly. The selection of research fields is based on specific criteria related to:
  • the quality of the natural environment
  • the potential for meaningful experiences in nature
  • the participation of the local community
  • alignment with the principles and goals of Life Restart

This approach allows the creation of reliable environments for observation and research, where meaningful research initiatives can develop and produce valuable outcomes.

Collaboration for Scientific Research

Life Restart programs are designed and implemented with the aim of:
  • providing meaningful experiences in nature
  • supporting education
  • strengthening mental well-being
  • promoting the sustainable development of local communities
Within this framework, universities and research institutions are invited to use these programs as a field for scientific research.
There is also flexibility to adapt certain aspects of activities in order to support research objectives, without altering the core philosophy of the programs.

Knowledge Utilization

Experiences developed within the Life Restart framework can generate scientific knowledge that may be applied in various sectors of society.
Education

Knowledge generated from nature-based experiences can contribute to the development of experiential learning and strengthen the relationship between children, young people, and the natural environment.
Contact with nature can function as a powerful learning tool, encouraging observation, understanding of the natural world, and the development of environmental awareness. Scientific research can contribute to the development of educational approaches that use nature as a space for learning and personal development.
Health

Contact with the natural environment can contribute to improved mental well-being, stress reduction, and overall quality of life. Research on the relationship between people and nature
Research on the relationship between people and nature can contribute to understanding the role the natural environment may play in health prevention and well-being. Studying the effects of nature-based experiences can provide valuable insights into mental health and human well-being.
Tourism

Research can contribute to the development of sustainable and experiential tourism models that respect the natural environment and support local communities.
Scientific study of nature experiences can provide knowledge for developing forms of tourism based on respect for nature and authentic local experiences.
Society

Experiences in nature can strengthen social cohesion and cooperation among people and communities. Contact with the natural environment can create conditions
Contact with the natural environment can create conditions that support communication, collaboration, and stronger human relationships.
Economy

Nature-based activities can create new opportunities for local economies. Sustainable use of natural environments can contribute to job creation and the strengthening of local economic activity.
Contact with nature can function as a powerful learning tool, encouraging observation, understanding of the natural world, and the development of environmental awareness. Scientific research can contribute to the development of educational approaches that use nature as a space for learning and personal development.
Enviroment

The knowledge generated can contribute to strengthening environmental awareness and protecting natural ecosystems. Scientific study of human presence in nature can help understand phenomena
Scientific study of human presence in nature can help understand phenomena such as visitor pressure in popular areas and the stress placed on sensitive ecosystems. This knowledge can contribute to developing practices that balance human experience with environmental protection.

THE LIFE RESTART MODEL

Life Restart is based on a model that connects experiential activities in nature with scientific research and the application of knowledge for the benefit of society.

Activities take place in natural environments and in cooperation with local communities, creating fields of experience, observation, and study.

Through these experiences, scientific research can be developed, leading to results and new knowledge about the relationship between people, nature, and society.

This knowledge can then be applied in areas such as education, health, sustainable tourism, social cohesion, local economies, and environmental protection.

This model illustrates the path from experience in nature to knowledge creation and its application in society.
